Call for show submissions

As part of our increased offering we are keen to welcome more shows produced by third parties to take place at the Festival in order to present these to a new audience.

We have already begun to receive several applications and notes of interest from show producers and directors and, as such, have chosen to open our show submission procedure in advance of our open call for artist submissions.

We are particularly keen to welcome theatrical, live art and comedic productions in addition to cabaret, showcase and revue-based shows. The underpinning focus of shows should be the presentation, examination and celebration of the art of erotica and eroticism. Erotic Arts practitioners and academics keen to present talks or workshops at the Festival are also encouraged to get in touch.

To register interest send a show outline, including technical requirements, expected running time and cast details to:

show.submissions@erotic-arts.co.uk

We note at this stage that the Festival of the Erotic Arts is a not-for-profit, arts-driven event. At this time we cannot offer financial funding to stage productions, though can assist low to no budget productions in bringing their work to the event.

Our submission process for artists, authors and performers will open on the 14th of January 2013, with initial programme announcements scheduled for the 25th of March.

We have opted to alter our artist submission procedure from that used in 2012. First and foremost we will remove the requirement for visual artists and film makers to pay a mandatory fee to submit their work to our juries, though this is industry standard for open calls for art, levying a mandatory fee, albeit small, played heavily on our minds and additionally the system which required us to levy a fee was far from foolproof.

Instead, to assist with the administration costs associated with a large open call we will request a small, voluntary donation to the festival of £3-5 from each prospective participant. We hope that the majority of applicants choose to donate what they can and, in turn assist with the, unavoidable, admin costs a medium-scale open call for art incurs.

Artists with queries should first contact us via: festival@erotic-arts.co.uk

In our first year we welcomed more than 800 people to 13 events held over three days and showcased the work of more than 60 artists - we aim for more in 2013.
